Movie Review to "Saving Shiloh"

Can bad people be rehabilitated, or are some people just inherently bad? Should a person follow his head or his heart? Young Marty Preston (Jason Dolley) wrestles with these issues when dealing with his surly neighbor Judd Travers (Scott Wilson): a man that the entire community distrusts and who once seriously abused Marty's dog Shiloh. Etiquette requires that Marty be civil and even neighborly with Judd, but Shiloh refuses to even cross the bridge to Judd's property. When Judd has an automobile accident while driving drunk and then a dead body shows up in the woods, rumors run wild in town and Judd becomes the townsfolk's prime murder suspect. Even while Marty and his friend launch their own private investigation of Judd, Marty considers whether Judd may have really changed for the better and his compassion for Judd's chained dogs leads him to offer to help set up a fence at Judd's place. Judd and Marty become almost friendly with one another, but the results of the boys' investigation combined with a freak accident involving Marty's sister will ultimately test Marty's newfound faith in his neighbor to the extreme. Young audience members will find this sequel to Shiloh less disturbing than the original thanks to a toning down of both Judd's attitude and his abusive behavior toward his dogs. Movie Review to "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World"

During the Napoleonic Wars, a British frigate, HMS Surprise, and a much larger French warship, the Acheron, with greater fire power, stalk each other off of the coast of South America. Russell Crowe brings great intensity to the role of Captain Jack Aubrey. Lucky Jack, as he is referred to by his crew, is well regarded by his men, who trust him implicitly, even after the first devastating battle and an apparent personal vendetta against the French captain. While the naval battle sequences are quite fantastic, the film is successful because director Weir chose to build the story to get to know the men who are locked aboard the tight quarters of a small ship and how they interact everyday. The officers and the mates are well-known by the time the final battle comes. Paul Bettany offers a strong performance as the surgeon and naturalist who balances the violence of his chosen life with the quiet demeanor of the scientist. He is the captain's friend and confidant, the two frequently playing violin and cello duets together. The horrors of the injuries from the war are frequently implied, but vividly depicted in the reactions of the characters. Movie Review to "Under Siege"

The battleship Missouri is about to be decomissioned. casey Ryback is Captain Adam's personal cook. And Ryback is always butting heads with the ship's XO Commander Krill but the Captain always intercedes. One day, after the President visits the Missouri, which is also the Captain's birthday, the Captain learns that a helicopter has been cleared to land on the ship by Commander Krill, which he was not informed of. When questioned Krill tells the Captain that it's a surprise for his birthday, the Captain then allows it. Later after another one of their scuffles, Krill has Ryback locked in the freezer. During the party, the rock band reveals themselves to be mercenaries, led by William Stranix, a CIA operative, who is in league with Krill to unload all of the ship's nuclear warheads. They lock up all of the crew and make preparations to remove the warheads. And Krill remembers Ryback, Stranix sends two of his men to take care of Ryback, only thing is that Ryback took care of them. Upon discovering their bodies, Stranix deduces that Ryback is more than a cook. He then sends Krill to check on him, and Krill discovers that Ryback's a NAVY SEAL, who got busted down to a cook after an incident in Panama. And Ryback continues to create trouble for them, so Stranix tries to hunt him down. Along the way, Ryback meets Jordan, a former playmate, who was supposed to entertain at the party but was also forgotten. [Learn more about the movie Under Siege...]
